Making a smaller home feel generous

Space is not only about square footage. Light, flow, and a few deliberate choices can make a compact home feel calm and generous.

Some of the most memorable homes we have sold were not the largest. They felt considered, with every room doing its job well.

Let the light travel

Keep window treatments simple and use mirrors where they can bounce daylight deeper into the room.

Choose fewer, better pieces

A single well-scaled sofa often works better than several smaller pieces. Furniture raised on legs also lets the floor read as one surface.

Give everything a place

Built-in storage, even in an alcove or under the stairs, keeps surfaces clear and helps a home feel restful.
